Point Break Remake Is Action Packed!

November 11,2015

Some people might say that the action classic Point Break did not need to be remade. In fact, a lot of people would say that in their loudest voice using their most offended language. The original was, and still is, perfect. Patrick Swayze and Keanu Reeves were extraordinarily popular macho stars with tremendous box-office appeal. Their chemistry tied the whole film together. Gary Busey was perfect as the sidekick, and even The Red Hot Chili Pepper’s Anthony Kiedis had a great bit part on the beach. Lori Petty had a break-out performance and four years later, she starred in the film Tank Girl, based on the popular British comic book. So why was the film remade, anyway?

Well, like lots of remakes of popular films, the producers felt that they could do it better the second time around. Usually, that means CGI technology was either non-existent or embarrassingly unrealistic during the original, but that is not the case here. This time, the stunts are even more outrageous, and instead of using professional stuntmen, extreme sports stars do the high flying.

The remake once again centers on FBI agent Johnny Utah and Bodhi, the charming, guru-esque leader of a pack of thrill-seeking, adrenalized robbers looking to achieve inner peace by pulling off Robin Hood style capers. These guys aren’t in it for the money–they’re trying to rack up karma points, probably so they remain alive during their crazy-assed flirtations with death.

Another big difference between the original Point Break and the remake is that the new version wanders across 11 countries on four continents. It’s not just surfing and skydiving, either. There’s also motorcross and wingsuit flying and even a dash of Fight Club in the wild, thrilling mix–and it was all shot live, in-camera! You can get the flavor of the film from one of the trailers here: http://www.ign.com/videos/2015/09/17/point-break-trailer-2.

If you’re the type who can’t wait to see the Point Break remake, you’ll be happy to know you don’t have to surf mega-waves or flea down a mountain on a motorcycle while being chased by a rockslide. All you have to do to attend the December 15th world premiere and after party is go to https://vipmoviepremieretickets.com/point-break-premiere-and-after-party. We’ve got tickets for the show and the party, which conveniently are being held in comparatively tame Los Angeles.

The film isn’t just a bunch of YouTube-ish action clips mashed together. There’s enough drama to qualify it as a bona-fide film, although the plot is sort of a “been there, done that” ghost. But, what the hell, Point Break isn’t Hamlet, it’s a freaking action picture, and it’s not apologizing for it either.

So, if you’re in the mood for a two-fisted popcorn film that will blow your mind with stunts galore, you really need to get your bad self to the premiere. We’ve got the tickets, and you’ve got the need. Make it happen.
